Watch The Turin Horse

The Turin Horse is a 2011 Hungarian movie based on a rumored event involving Friedrich Nietzche in 1889. In that event, Nietzche is said to have begun his descent into insanity after he stopped a horse being whipped in the Italian town of Turin. The black and white film doesn’t focus on Nietzche. Instead, it focuses on the life of the owner of the horse and his daughter. The horse’s refusal to do anything threatens their livelihood and increases their already difficult struggle to survive.
