Spoken Word is a drama about Cruz Montoya, a West Coast rock star that draws loyal fans from Seattle to San Diego. After a successful tour, he learns that his father his fatally ill, and rushes back home to be with him. Returning to an area ravaged by violence, drug abuse and poverty causes Cruz to retreat back to his troubled former lifestyle. Spoken Word is a story of a relationship between a father and son. It illustrates how a family can often connect without even one word being spoken because their hearts share a private language. The film offers an authentic portrait of old and new Latino cultures.
