Revenger is a South Korean action movie, released in 2018, that tells the story of a former detective, Kim Yool (Je-Heon Choi), who goes to a prison island to avenge the death of his family. She becomes a pawn in a game of cat-and-mouse between Kim Yool and Koo Myung-kyu, and her presence complicates Kim Yool's mission.

The movie is full of action scenes, mainly hand-to-hand combat, which are realistically choreographed and filmed. It's impressive to see Je-Heon Choi's physical performance, as he was not a professional fighter before the movie, but he trained hard to prepare for the role. Kim In-kwon delivers a convincing performance as the villain, who is cold and calculating, and who enjoys playing mind games with Kim Yool. Makayla Rose Hilli is also remarkable as the young girl who is traumatized by the violence around her, but who finds hope in Kim Yool's bravery.

The setting of the movie is unique, as the prison island is isolated from the rest of the world, and the convicts are left to their own devices. The island is beautiful, but also eerie, and the cinematography captures its atmosphere perfectly. The soundtrack is also noteworthy, as it enhances the tension and the emotion of the scenes.

One of the strengths of the movie is its pacing, as it never feels slow, but also gives enough time for the characters to develop. The relationship between Kim Yool and the young girl is heartwarming, and it adds an emotional layer to the movie that is not common in action movies.
