Nosey is a 2017 independent drama film directed by Spencer King, starring Jeff Giroux, A.J. Orille, Ali Pirich, and Mickey Hadick. It follows the life of a grocery clerk named Lemuel, who has a rare condition called synesthesia, which makes him experience a mix of senses, such as seeing sounds or tasting colors. Lemuel's unique condition leads him down an unusual, emotional journey, as he starts to hear the deepest secrets and hidden emotions of the people around him.

The movie begins with Lemuel, a grocery store clerk, who seems to be an ordinary man. However, as the film progresses, it is revealed that he sees the world differently than others. He has a rare condition that causes him to see sounds and taste colors. Lemuel's life becomes complicated when he starts hearing the innermost secrets of the people around him. While he initially uses this information to his advantage, he quickly realizes that the burdens of others are too much for him to bear alone.

Lemuel's gift, or curse, depending on how one sees it, is both a blessing and a curse. At first, he is thrilled to be seeing the world in such a unique way, but as he starts hearing the darkest secrets of his co-workers, his life spirals out of control. He hears things that no one is supposed to know and feels pain that is not his own. Lemuel becomes a witness to the fragility and complexities of human emotion when he discovers secrets that could ruin people's lives.

As the story progresses, Lemuel makes some unexpected, meaningful connections with some of his co-workers that brighten his otherwise gloomy life. They help him understand the beauty and importance of human interaction which he hasn't experienced before. Part of the beauty of the film is that it reveals how the individual experiences of Lemuel helps in bringing people closer to him, who otherwise would have remained strangers.

Jeff Giroux plays Lemuel, and delivers an excellent performance. He perfectly captures the essence of a man who is both fascinated and burdened by his unique abilities to see and feel things others can't. A.J. Orille, Ali Pirich, and Mickey Hadick also deliver impressive performances, portraying characters that are struggling with their own secrets and emotions.

Nosey is a thoughtful and emotional exploration of the human condition, and how a unique individual could change the lives of those around them. It's a well-crafted drama that plays with the abstract concept of synesthesia, which is both haunting and beautiful. The subject matter might not be for everyone, but the filmmaking is poignant, and the narrative is captivating.

Despite covering heavy themes, the film is not overly preachy, instead focusing on the relationships between the characters. The characters are compelling, and their stories are relatable, making the film's message about the importance of human connection and the need for emotional more impactful. The movie manages to create a sense of intimacy between the audience and the characters as Lemuel's synesthesia is symbolic of the emotional weight we carry throughout our lives.

Overall, Nosey is a beautiful, thought-provoking drama that places great importance on the value of human connection. King's direction combined with Giroux's excellent performance puts this low-budget production on the map. It's a film that reveals how a unique condition can also be a gift, and how empathizing with others can sometimes be an arduous yet gratifying journey.
