The movie opens with a trippy, dream-like montage of animals and landscapes, as Lucy narrates an existentialist monologue about the purpose of life. The scene then transitions into a tense action sequence, where Lucy is coerced into delivering a mysterious suitcase to a crime boss named Mr. Jang (Choi Min-Sik). When Lucy is tricked and ambushed by Jang's henchmen, she is forced to undergo surgery to have the drug H4, a powerful synthetic substance, surgically implanted into her abdomen. The drug is designed to allow s to access their full brain capacity, but it has a lethal side-effect: the more of the drug ingested, the more potential death becomes a reality.
After the surgery, Lucy finds herself transformed into a superhuman being with incredible powers, including telekinesis, the ability to manipulate time and space around her, and the ability to alter her physical form. As she becomes increasingly more powerful, Lucy decides to seek the help of Professor Samuel Norman (Morgan Freeman), a renowned scientist who has dedicated his life to studying the potential of the human brain.
The rest of the movie follows Lucy as she races against time to unlock the secrets of the universe and find a way to stop the deathly effects of the drug. However, she is also being hunted by Mr. Jang and his army of ruthless gangsters, who are determined to regain the suitcase and the drugs inside.
Lucy's journey of self-discovery leads her on an incredible adventure that spans the globe, from Taiwan to Paris and beyond. She faces death-defying challenges and risks everything to uncover the truth about the nature of existence and the universe itself.
