Gregg Biermann's extreme digital exploration of a grapefruit makes use of the camera-less film technique employed in much of his work. A scanned image of the outer and inner surfaces of the fruit is put in motion (using editing software) to conjure a virtual three-dimensional space simultaneously evoking alien landscapes and sensual human anatomy. A grocer's sticker on its skin playfully betrays the grapefruits natural origins and reminds the viewer of nature's place in a consumer culture. - Stela Jelincic c1s13
